Welcome and Happy New Year!
How were your holidays?
Wonderful! My
daughter is back after a very long nine
months (long for Mom, anyway!) and our new home is feeling so festive:
hummingbirds buzzing the windows, dinner enjoyed on the deck, a fire in the fireplace
and—finally—an actual mantel to hang the stockings from! NorCal at its finest.
;)
What’s your favorite part of the new
year?
The resolutions.
I know, I know, everyone hates those—right? Mine are more like goals. I like
goals. I like them in much the same way Douglas Adams is said to have liked
deadlines (“I love deadlines.
I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”). Seriously though, I
love the clean-slate feel of the new year, the idea that anything’s possible.
And I always, always believe the new year will be a better year…no matter how
many times it proves me wrong. lol!
If you could travel anywhere in the world
to celebrate (either New Year’s Eve or a new release) where would you go and
why?
I’m actually very
happy to be spending this New Year’s Eve (and celebrating this week’s new
release!) at home. As I mentioned
earlier, home is a very good place to be right now. Although, of course, Hawaii
wouldn’t be half-bad either!
Please share your writing goals for the
year.
Oh, I have so
many books I’m trying to finish this year! There’s the first of four steampunks
(in the same world as last year’s This
Winter Heart), the fifth book in my Children
of Night vampire saga (tentatively titled Fallen Embers) two follow-up stories to Edge of Heaven and two Oberon
Christmas short stories that I hope to release as an anthology. I’d also like
to self-publish the audiobook version of my Oberon prequel, Such Fleeting Pleasures. If I can accomplish half of that, I’ll
be ecstatic.
Do you have any releases scheduled for
this year?
Yes! Unlike 2012
which was very slow for me (or I was very slow for it, I suppose. lol!) I’m
actually starting 2013 with a few releases to look forward to. Books three and
four in my Children of Night series
are being released by Samhain Publishing this year. Now Comes the Night is coming in February and Ashes of the Day is due out in (or around) May. I also have a short
story in an upcoming anthology with the Nine Naughty Novelists. Blame it On the Voodoo is my contribution
to the Nine Nights in New Orleans
antho. We should have details about that on our blog soon.
